As part of its campaign to help the victims of devastating floods that have caused huge damage to human life, property, infrastructure and livestock in most regions of Pakistan 'The TAQ Organization' donated a consignment of urgently needed shelter tents for the Balochistan province to the Army authorities on September 6, 2022 at their relief camp set up at Fortress Stadium, Lahore.
On hand to deliver the consignment were members of the TAQ Flood Relief Committee that included Maria Zahid, GM HR who served as Coordinator and Zahid Munir, Executive Secretary to the Chairman who served as Fund Manager. Other members of the Committee present were Aamir Ismail Senior Manager Commercial, F. U. Sabir Corporate Development Manager and Ahmed Baig, General Assistant.
The tents acquired from a top export quality manufacturer con- sisted of water proof material with specifications and accessories to provide suitable shelter to the flood victims. Each tent and its accessories were further packed in a waterproof fabric sack, strong enough to withstand the stress of transportation and distribution. As informed by the Army authorities the consignment of shelter tents donated by TAQ was delivered timely at the camp for uploading on trucks that were ready for dispatch to the flood affected areas in Balochistan with relief goods.
The “TAQ Flood Relief Committee” and “TAQ Flood Relief Fund” were created on the same pattern as was done in the past when the country was affected by calamities like floods and earthquakes. In the message circulated jointly by GM HR and Executive Secretary to the Chairman the TTO staff members were urged to make generous contributions to the fund at this hour of need so that maximum aid could be provided to the flood victims to alleviate their sufferings. An initial substantial personal contribution to the fund came from the Chairman TTO Mian Tariq Mahmud and Directors Ali Tariq and Asad Tariq. In addition, while all TTO and its allied companies participated in the fund by donating a certain amount, some individuals, besides the deduction from their salaries, made notable personal contributions.
It is noteworthy that the TAQ Flood Relief Committee in its meeting on September 8, 2022 after the delivery of consignment of shelter tents reviewed its performance and resolved to further provide aid to the flood victims from the remaining funds available with them. Taking into consideration that diseases like malaria and cholera could pose serious threat to the health and survival of population of the flood affected area the Committee decided to study provision of mosquito nets and medicines as the next relief consignment of TTO.
