Advanced Taxation and Compliance Services Workshop

In line with the policy to provide higher level training to its talented people at external facilities in addition to their in-house institute three senior members of 'The TAQ Organization' (TTO) attended an advanced workshop on Taxation and Compliance Services at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) House Lahore on May 13, 2022 from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

The TTO staff members who attended the workshop were Khurram Shahzad Group Chief Financial Officer, Shahid Nadeem Manager Accounts TECSL and Mariam Hafeez Deputy Manager Accounts and Finance TAQ CFS (Pvt) Limited. Altogether about 100 participants from reputed multinationals and audit and consultancy firms, representing different sectors of the economy, were part of the
training program.

The course was conducted by a high level ICAP professional team and guest speakers. The contents of the course were comprehensively designed to make the participants become well-versed with the ways of managing the tax compliances and dealing with the FBR proceedings. The three speakers were Umair Saleem, Senior Manager Taxation Grant Thornton, Muhammad Asim, Senior Manager Advisory Reporting, Finance and Taxation MHSS & Co. and Nafey Akbar, Director Taxation and Corporate Advisory KPMG.

Held in the ICAP auditorium, a big multimedia screen was used for presentation. Participants from Multan and Faisalabad participated through video conferencing. The presentations were later e-mailed to the participants at the end of the session. At the conclusion of the workshop certificates were issued to the participants by the chief guest Farooq Hameed, FCA, Secretary North Regional Committee of ICAP.

Commenting on the usefulness of the course the TTO Group CFO said, “This one-day workshop refreshed participants on all the important provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001. Practical and common issues were deliberated at length by the speakers and the participants were provided with opportunity to discuss their experiences and share thoughts over various important provisions of income tax law. The course would definitely help our TTO members to strengthen their knowledge and help them to ensure compliance with income tax law. I would rate the course high as it was well organized and managed by ICAP and ably delivered by senior personnel of reputed tax consultancy firms.”
